Planning a getaway this June long weekend? Here’s a quick checklist to help you hit the road with confidence.
The cooler months are well and truly here, and with a long weekend coming up, now’s the perfect time to give your caravan, camper or trailer a quick once-over. Whether you’re heading bush or just out of town, a little prep can save a lot of headaches.
Check handles, hinges and catches
Test all handles, catches and hinges for rust, wear or wobble. Tighten fittings and if they need replacing, do it before you're out in the elements.
Seal it up
Check your rubber seals, weather stripping, and pinchwelds—if they’re cracked or worn, you could be letting in dust, cold air, or rain.
Inspect gas struts and drawer slides
Gas struts should hold steady and not sag. Make sure drawer slides are smooth.
Test your trailer lights
Don’t wait until you’re packed to find out your trailer lights aren’t working. Check that your LED lights are all functional and that cables and plugs are secure.
Secure your gear
Tie-down rings and anchor points should be solid and not bent out of shape. Recessed rings are great for keeping loads in place.
Be winter-ready
Shorter days and wet weather are here. Now’s a good time to upgrade hardware, add better storage, or fit new mudflaps and lighting before you get caught out.
