How to install a sideboard latch

Step 1: Prepare the surfaces
Decide where the handle will sit on the board and where the catch plate / keeper will mount on the frame or body. Mark the mounting holes for both parts. For weld-on versions, mark the weld locations instead.

Step 2: Install the latch handle component
Drill pilot holes in the section at the marked points. Align the latch mechanism with the holes and fasten securely with bolts, or weld into place depending on the layout.

Step 3: Install the keeper component
Close the panel to align the keeper plate or hook with the latch. Mark the holes on the stationary surface, drill pilot holes, and secure the component with fasteners or welds.

Step 4: Test the latch
Close the board and engage the sideboard latch to ensure it locks smoothly and provides a strong, secure closure. Adjust alignment if needed for a reliable fit.
